Vote Today – Board Election

Voting is open

The College of Midwives of Ontario’s 2026 Professional Board Director election runs from March 31, 2026, to April 30, 2026.

Voting is fast and easy – it takes only a few minutes and can be done on your phone or computer. Cast your ballot today!

All midwives who are eligible to vote have an opportunity to help shape the Board by voting for their peers – midwives that will best serve the College’s mandate of regulating the profession in the public interest.

The College of Midwives of Ontario is self-regulated, and our Board makes important decisions about the College’s strategy, as well as standards, by-laws, and policies. Board Directors sit on the College’s committees including Inquiries, Complaints, and Reports; Registration; and Client Relations.

Who is running?

This election is to fill three positions and four candidates have put their names forward. All positions are for three year terms, which will begin at the June 24, 2026, Board meeting.

The candidates running for election, in alphabetical order, are:

  • Kelly Armstrong
  • Sonya Daljeet
  • Maryam Rahimi Chatri
  • Emily Steadman

Eligible midwives casting their ballots must vote for three of the four candidates.

How can I vote?

On Tuesday, March 31, eligible electors received an email from the College via a platform called Election Runner with a link to cast their ballot and instructions on how to vote. If you are an eligible voter, your Voter ID and instructions are in your email. Contact the College at governance@cmo.on.ca if you require any assistance accessing that information, or if you did not receive a ballot and believe you should have.

Between March 31 and April 30, eligible midwives will have the opportunity to cast their vote.

Results will be emailed to the membership by May 14, 2026.
