The College of Midwives of Ontario will be holding Council elections from June 1, 2021, to June 30, 2021, to fill two vacancies for professional member positions. Four candidates have put their names forward for election. Each term consists of a duration of three years. The next term will begin October 5, 2021.
On Tuesday, June 1, all eligible electors will receive an email from the College via a platform called Election Runner with a link to cast their ballot and instructions on how to vote. They can also access their ballot and review the platforms of the four candidates to better inform their decisions at the Election Runner website here. If you are an eligible voter, you should receive your Voter ID and instructions in your email – contact the College at cmo@cmo.on.ca if you require any assistance accessing that information!
The candidates running for election, presented in alphabetical order, are:
- Hardeep Fervaha
- Alexandria Nickels
- Maureen Silverman
- Alexia Singh
Between June 1 and June 30, eligible midwives will have the opportunity to cast their vote. They may choose to elect one or two candidates. Results will be emailed to the membership by July 7, 2021.
The College of Midwives of Ontario is self-regulated, and its Council makes important decisions about the College’s strategy, as well as standards, by-laws, and other documents. Council members sit on the College’s committees including ICRC, Discipline, and Client Relations.
All midwives who are eligible to vote have an opportunity to help shape Council by voting for the two midwives they think will best serve the College’s mandate of regulation in the public interest.
Voting is fast and easy!
