The Professional Development Portfolio program is a key component of the Quality Assurance Program at the College of Midwives of Ontario. Completing your portfolio demonstrates your commitment to accountable and ethical practice and shows that you are meeting your Quality Assurance obligations under the Midwifery Act (1991).
The program operates on a three-year cycle that begins when you first register with the College and continues throughout your career as a registered midwife. Participation is mandatory for all Ontario midwives. All midwives, whether general, supervised, transitional, or inactive, are required to actively maintain their Professional Development Portfolio. This includes completing your self-assessment, peer case reviews, learning plan, and all related learning activities by your specified reporting deadline.
Our website offers a range of information and resources to support you, including detailed guidance on program requirements and a step-by-step video on how to complete each component of your portfolio.
