During the Call for By-Election Nominations earlier this year, the College received one eligible nominations for one remaining Professional Director positions on the Board.
We are pleased to announce that Jyothy Nair was acclaimed to the Board and will be serving her second three-year term, commencing in June 2025.
Jyothy Nair, RM, RN, is returning to the College of Midwives of Ontario Board for her second term. Jyothy brings her professional and lived experiences as a BIPOC midwife to the College’s Board, where she aims to make a difference for our diverse midwifery clients.
Jyothy graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in 2003 at the University of Toronto, worked in a bank for several years and then completed her Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery from TMU in 2012, registering with the College of Midwives that year. Since then, Jyothy has served midwifery clients across cultural, ethnic, and rural/urban geographical locations, and has first-hand experience with the diversity of midwifery practice in Ontario.
Dedicated to lifelong learning, Jyothy also completed her Bachelor of Nursing in 2017, and currently works as an Emergency RN in two acute care hospitals and at a hospice downtown as a casual Hospice RN. She remains active within the Midwifery Space as a Senior Emergency Skills Workshop (ESW) Instructor, a contributor in the ESW Work Group, and a non-board member of the Racial Equity Committee at the Association of Ontario Midwives.
