At the June Board meeting, the College launched its 2026-27 governance year. The Board approved the slate of Board Directors, which includes newly elected Professional Directors and appointed Public Directors; and accepted the acclamations of a new Executive Committee.
The College began the new governance year by approving a constituted Board slate, consisting of eight Professional Directors and six Public Directors.
The College’s work is overseen by a Board, which sets the strategic direction of the College and ensures our long-term success. The Board also holds staff accountable for the way we fulfill our regulatory mandate and duties.

The College’s Board also establishes committees to perform statutory functions assigned to them under the authority of the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA), as well as other non-statutory duties determined by the Board.

The College’s new Board Chair had the following to say about her position: “I’m honoured to step into the role of the Chair of the Board of the College of Midwives of Ontario. What drew me to this role is the opportunity to contribute to the growth and governance of a profession that I care so deeply about. Midwifery has the power to create meaningful change in the lives of individuals, families, and communities, and as our profession continues to evolve, I’m excited to be part of the conversations that will help shape its future.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working across diverse models of midwifery care. Those experiences have reinforced the importance of collaboration, innovation, and ensuring that diverse voices are reflected in leadership and decision making. I’m looking forward to working alongside the Board, the College, and the profession to support strong governance and help ensure midwifery in Ontario remains sustainable, responsive, and well positioned for the future.”
