The College of Midwives of Ontario’s strategic priorities include building engagement and fostering trust with the public and the profession. We see improving our engagement with students as a crucial element of achieving this priority.
Our goal is to make sure that applicants and new registrants understand the College, our role, and their responsibilities to the public.
We are looking to demonstrate to students that their relationship to the College will be broader than annual registration and quality assurance reports – that our standards and guiding documents relate to their practice on a day-to-day basis.
We’ve launched a survey for students and midwives in their first three years of practice requesting feedback that can help shape our Student Engagement Plan.
We also value the feedback that faculty members and preceptors can provide in guiding our student engagement work, and plan to regularly connect with midwives who are in those roles. Preceptors and faculty members can help us understand how to improve our engagement by filling out the survey for preceptors and faculty members below, and by sharing this survey with students.
We are asking all students, new midwives, preceptors, and faculty members to please share their feedback in our targeted surveys.
We are also asking registrants who interact with midwifery students to please forward this email and share with the students.
The surveys will take between 5-10 minutes to complete. We are accepting feedback until January 24, 2024.
Thank you for your feedback!
Note: We are currently looking for feedback from MEP students, new midwives who attended an Ontario MEP university program, and midwives who have acted as preceptors and/or faculty members at the MEP in the last three years. If you do not meet these criteria but have feedback you would like to share please email cmo@cmo.on.ca.
