Home Midwives Maintaining Your Registration Become an Expert or Assessor

Become an Expert or Assessor

We are always recruiting registered midwives to join our roster of consultants as Assessors or Experts, and applications for both positions are accepted on an ongoing basis.

What is an Expert?

Experts are registered midwives with extensive professional experience and expert knowledge of regulations, legislation, policies, standards, and clinical practice guidelines related to the midwifery profession.

The College’s Inquiries, Complaints, and Reports Committee typically requests the opinions of these experts for high-risk and serious matters and/or when there is a potential, or consideration of a referral to Discipline.

What is an Assessor?

Assessors are registered midwives with the knowledge and expertise to evaluate whether a practising midwife is meeting the expected standard of care and working within the legislation and regulations that govern their profession. Assessors also apply their knowledge to provide peer support to midwives during the assessment process.
