The CMRC is recruiting midwives for a steering committee

The Canadian Midwifery Regulators Council (CMRC) has asked for the College’s assistance in reaching midwives to participate in a new steering committee. Please review the information provided by the CMRC below, and contact the project lead, Melanie Murdock, at melanie.murdock@queensu.ca if you have any questions or if you would like to participate.

The CMRC is looking to recruit midwives for participation in a steering committee that will be reviewing and adapting the CMRC Midwifery Competencies Appendix to better address the needs of marginalized groups. More specifically, the review aims to adapt the Appendix with a focus on the needs of equity-deserving groups including Indigenous clients, racialized clients, migrants, clients with disabilities, under-housed clients, 2SLGBTQIA+ clients, youth, and other marginalized groups.

If you are a midwife who is an advocate for inclusive care, or who identifies as a member of a marginalized group, and you want to participate in reviewing the CMRC Midwifery Competencies Appendix, please contact the CMRC!

As a member of the steering committee, you will be asked to join us for weekly virtual meetings during the month of September, 2023. There are no significant risks to participating in this quality improvement initiative and you will be offered an honorarium in recognition of your time and contributions.

If you have any further questions, or you would like to participate, please contact the project lead, Melanie Murdock, at melanie.murdock@queensu.ca. By emailing the project lead, you are providing implied consent to be contacted regarding this project. Please indicate any accommodations you may require.
